Families don’t always agree on what is best for Mom or Dad as they face difficult transitions.  The goal of this training is to help you work with clients and their families when there is disagreement in the ranks.  You will learn tools to:

  • Facilitate multi-party decision making
  • Work with parties with strong emotions
  • Understand and identify interests (vs. positions)
  • Communicate more effectively and use "Active Listening"
  • Build skills to aid conflict resolution and consensus building

Elder Decisions® is a mediation, training and coaching firm that has a long history of developing conflict resolution training programs for social workers, care managers, and others who provide services to older people.  We are now bringing our popular conflict resolution skills training for eldercare professionals online.  This program is recommended for professionals who work with multiple family members making difficult decisions.

Testimonials:

"We were very pleased with the training Elder Decisions provided for my team. We continue to discuss and incorporate what was learned.... The trainers were great!"
- Kate Granigan, LICSW, C-ASWCM, VP of Geriatric Care Management, Overlook C.A.R.E.

"The BEST training I've ever attended (and there have been many). The program was highly interactive and the presenters were articulate, interesting, organized, knowledgeable, warm and flexible. Thank you!"
- Karen Zweig, The Move Maven

"As a Geriatric Care Manager, I work with families who are often conflicted about elders who are in transition.  Family members want to do "what is best" for their relatives, but are sometimes at odds about the best means of arriving at consensus as a group when faced with difficult, emotional decisions.  I recently attended an Elder Decisions Conflict Resolution Skills for Eldercare Professionals workshop and found the valuable skills I learned to be very helpful when working with families.  I would highly recommend attending an Elder Decisions workshop to any professional who works with elders and their families."
- Michael Novack, LICSW, Geriatric Care Manager, Elder Resources

“I want to re-iterate how valuable I found the seminar. Having reviewed the notebook and my notes, I am realizing how much I gained! It was an excellent experience...I am hoping you will do more trainings for those of us who are interested.  Thank you again for a really worthwhile day!”
- Laura Kaplan, MSW, Connecticut Eldercare Solutions, LLC
